HELEN CAMPBELL TOURNAMENT
The Helen Campbell Tournament is an annual pre-season U SPORTS women’s basketball tournament hosted by the UNB REDS, of Atlantic University Sport.
The Campbell Tournament, an invitational, is one of the first exhibition season events of the year, taking place in late September or early October. Past participants include teams from all four U SPORTS conferences. The host team has won this tournament on six occasions (2002, 2003, 2010, 2015, 2022, 2025).

Helen Campbell would be humbled in knowing a basketball tournament was named in her honour.
That in itself speaks volumes of her character. Her kind, compassionate demeanor made her loved by all who knew her.
She was reluctant to ever miss a game but when that happened she could have been found near a radio. There is no doubt that Helen Campbell was a great supporter of UNB Athletics and her support continues today, through the Helen Neill Campbell Athletic Enrichment Fund.
The Helen Neill Campbell Fund, established in 1990, provides unique opportunities to UNB REDS teams. Helen’s grandson Andrew, also started a memorial award in Helen’s name, which goes to a member of the REDS' women’s basketball team.
Her first love may have been horses but her interest in youth and sport, and in particular UNB sports, were a close second.
Helen graduated from UNB with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1934. During her years at UNB she was a member of the Red Bloomers basketball team.
As well as being involved in the many goings on at UNB, Helen was involved with many service organizations in the Fredericton area.
